Greencore's ECO-HOUSE AT MARSH BALDON

Picture
Greencore Construction of Oxfordshire, UK is completing a traditional looking eco-house at nearby Marsh Baldon that will go on sale next month. “This is from our prefabricated Hempcell panels, but with a brick/lime mortar facing and a thatched roof,” said Ian Pritchett, Greencore’s managing director. “It is quite a unique house.”
The Hempcell panels are based on thermal technology developed by Greencore that helps the building far exceed international Passivhaus standards for energy performance.
The 3,500 sq. ft. dwelling is arranged on 3 floors and features a luxury basement. It is the first house to be built in 45 years at Marsh Baldon, which is 6 miles south of Oxford and boasts the largest village green in Europe at 0.5 ha. The Greencore house project sits next to Seven Stars pub, a popular local eatery and watering hole. See the brochure

Although not yet for commercial sale, the firm’s bio-plastic efforts are part of a series of work focused on defying the traditional concepts of the art object, and the line between art and technology.
